Privacy Policy for Pakhi Tunes

Effective date: October 23, 2026. Last updated: October 23, 2026.

Introduction

This policy describes how the Pakhi Tunes mobile application handles information. Pakhi Tunes (com.damnanuj.pakhitunes) is developed by Anuj Kumar. It is a music player for browsing a catalog, playing audio, saving favorites and history, downloading songs for offline playback, signing in, and optionally using notifications and Nearby Listening.

This policy applies to the Pakhi Tunes app. It is published on the project page for that app at https://www.damnanuj.com/projects/pakhi-tunes.

Information the app handles

Pakhi Tunes handles only the information needed for the features you use. You can play music without creating an account.

Account information

If you create an account with email and password, the app stores your email address and display name. The password is stored only as a hash. If you sign in with Google, the app receives the name, email address, and profile photo Google provides for that sign-in. Guest mode does not require an account.

Device identifier

The app creates an identifier on the device. It is used to keep a guest session, apply guest usage limits, and tie optional notification delivery and listening activity to that installation. It is not a phone number, and it is not used to recognize you in other apps.

Favorites and play history

If you are signed in, favorites and play history can be saved with your account so they are available when you return. Guest activity stays tied to the device identifier.

Listening activity

On builds where listening statistics are enabled, the app can send the song being played (title, artist, artwork, and song identifier), how long it was played, whether playback is active, the device identifier, the platform, and the app version. This supports play history, guest listening limits, and in-app listening statistics. It is not used for advertising.

Location

Location is requested only if you turn on Nearby Listening, and only while the app is open. It is used to look for nearby listening sessions and, if you host a session, to share that session with other people using the same feature. Nearby session records expire automatically after about one hour. The app does not keep a permanent location history. Location is not required to search, play music, or use your library.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, the app registers a Firebase Cloud Messaging token so it can deliver occasional alerts, such as new music updates. You can decline notifications and continue using the app.

Files on your device

Songs you download are saved on your device for offline playback. Those files stay on the device. The app does not upload your photo library, contacts, or other personal files.

Information the app does not collect

Pakhi Tunes does not collect:

  • Payment or financial information
  • Contacts, SMS, or call logs
  • Camera, microphone recordings, or photos
  • Health or fitness data
  • Advertising identifiers for ad targeting
  • Data from other apps on your device

The app does not sell personal information, and it does not show third-party ads.

Device permissions

The app may ask for these permissions. Each one is tied to a feature:

  • Notifications — optional alerts. Playback works if you decline.
  • Location while the app is in use — only for Nearby Listening.
  • Background audio — so a song can keep playing when you leave the app. This does not record audio.
  • Vibration and restart after reboot — so allowed notifications can be delivered.
  • Internet access — to load the catalog, sync a signed-in library, and play streams.

How information is used

  • Create and sign in to an account, including Google Sign-In
  • Keep guest sessions and guest usage limits
  • Save and sync favorites and play history
  • Play audio, including songs downloaded to the device
  • Show nearby listening sessions and keep a live session in sync while it is active
  • Send notifications you have allowed
  • Record which songs are played so library and listening features can work

This information is used to operate Pakhi Tunes. It is not sold.

Where information is kept

Account data, guest records, favorites, play history, nearby sessions, and app settings are stored in a MongoDB database used by the Pakhi Tunes API. Downloaded audio stays on your device.

Signed-in features use an authentication token. Passwords are stored as hashes, not as the password you typed.

Third-party services

Pakhi Tunes uses these services to run sign-in and notifications:

Song listings and stream addresses are requested by the Pakhi Tunes server from third-party music sources so the catalog can be shown. Those catalog requests are separate from your account. Pakhi Tunes does not host the music files.

Children

Pakhi Tunes is not directed at children under 13. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact the developer using the details below and it will be deleted.

How long information is kept

  • Nearby listening sessions expire automatically after about one hour.
  • Inactive guest records are removed by scheduled cleanup.
  • Account information, favorites, and play history are kept while the account exists.
  • Downloaded songs can be removed in the app on your device.

You can ask for your account and the data tied to it to be deleted by emailing anujkrgupta21@gmail.com or using the contact page.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated text will be published on this page and the date at the top will change.
